In spectroscopy, knowledge of the molecular symmetry is a fundamental starting point for the analysis of spectra. Group theory teaches us that only select combinations of symmetry elements and operations, the point groups, obeying the group axioms are meaningful. The Mulliken symbols representing these point groups are a very compact notation. The determination of the point group of a molecule is an important skill that requires some exercising. This is the purpose of the following quiz. It is anonymous and checks your answers.
